Collaborative Career Planning
for College Students with ASD
Introduction
Collaborative Career Planning for College Students with ASD was developed based on input provided through structured interviews with college students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, Disability Support Services professionals, and postsecondary Career Center staff. These interviews were conducted as part of the VCU ASD Career Links study which is a collaborative initiative between Virginia Commonwealth University and the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services. Funding for this project was provided by the National Institute on Disability Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
This site is a resource for Vocational Rehabilitation and postsecondary education professionals to obtain information to support the development of collaborative career planning processes for college students with ASD. Each module contains practical information and strategies for meeting the educational and career development needs of college students with ASD, tips for collaborating, and links to online resources. Through video clips and interview quotes, you will also hear from college students with ASD, Vocational Rehabilitation, Disability Support Services, and Career Center professionals who share their experiences and recommendations for collaboration.
